Google Search Console stores performance data (clicks, impressions, CTR, position) for a maximum of 16 months. After this, the data is permanently deleted and cannot be recovered.
What Data Is Affected
- Performance report: 16-month rolling window
- Discover report: 16 months
- News report: 16 months
- Pages/Coverage report: Shows current state, not historical
How to Preserve Historical Data
- Regular CSV exports - Export data monthly to Google Sheets or a spreadsheet
- Bulk Data Export to BigQuery - Set up the automatic export to BigQuery for continuous, unsampled data archiving
- Third-party tools - Many SEO tools (including GSC Wizard) store your historical data beyond Search Console's limits
Tip: GSC Wizard continuously stores your Search Console data so you are never limited by the 16-month window.
