The External Links section in the Google Search Console Links report provides insight into your site's backlink profile.
What External Link Data Is Available
- Top linked pages - Your pages that have the most external links pointing to them. These are often your most authoritative pages.
- Top linking sites - The external domains that link to your site most frequently. Click any domain to see which of your pages they link to.
- Top linking text - The most common anchor text used when other sites link to you. This can reveal if you have an anchor text diversity issue.
How to Export External Link Data
In each section, click "More" to see the full list, then click Export external links to download as a CSV or Google Sheets file.
Limitations
GSC link data is sampled and incomplete. For a comprehensive backlink audit, use dedicated tools like Ahrefs, SEMrush, or Moz alongside Search Console data.
