What Is Google Search Console?

Google Search Console (formerly Google Webmaster Tools) is a free service offered by Google that helps website owners monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot their site's presence in Google Search results.

With Search Console you can:

  • See which search queries bring users to your site
  • Monitor how often your pages appear in search results (impressions)
  • Track click-through rates (CTR) and average ranking positions
  • Identify crawl errors and indexing issues
  • Submit sitemaps and request indexing for new pages
  • View Core Web Vitals and mobile usability reports
  • Receive manual action and security issue alerts

It is an essential, no-cost tool for any website owner or SEO professional. You do not need to sign up to have your site included in Google - but verifying it in Search Console gives you data and control you would not otherwise have.

Tip: GSC Wizard connects to your Search Console account and surfaces keyword opportunities, traffic trends, and content insights that go beyond what the standard GSC interface shows.
