GSC Wizard vs Semrush

Semrush is a marketing suite: keyword research, competitor analysis, rank tracking, site audits, content, advertising and local SEO. GSC Wizard does one thing, the analysis of your own Search Console, GA4 and Bing data. The two overlap less than the title of this page suggests, because Semrush treats Search Console as a connected source, not as a data set it stores and analyses. So the useful question is not which one to buy. It is whether a Semrush subscription already covers your first-party search data. Mostly it does not.

Disclosure: we make GSC Wizard, so read this as one side's account. To keep it useful, the section on where Semrush is the better choice comes first and is written as carefully as the one about us. Facts about other products come from each vendor's own website, checked October 3, 2026, and every source is linked at the bottom. Spot an error? Tell us.

Choose Semrush if

You need keyword research, competitor data, backlink analysis, daily rank tracking, full site audits or PPC research. GSC Wizard is not built for any of these.

Choose GSC Wizard if

You need to analyse your own Search Console data properly: all the rows, years of history, decay and cannibalization on your real queries, indexing, and alerts.

Most teams need both jobs done

Semrush for the market, a Search Console tool for your own site. If the budget allows only one, pick by which questions you ask more often.

Where Semrush is the better choice

Semrush covers a long list of jobs that GSC Wizard does not attempt. If you need any of these, a Search Console tool is the wrong purchase.

Everything outside your own site

Semrush has a keyword database of more than 27 billion keywords, backlink analytics, and organic and paid research for any domain. It can show you what a competitor ranks for, what they bid on and who links to them. GSC Wizard only knows about sites you have connected, and only about queries those sites already appear for. It cannot find a keyword you have no impressions on. For keyword research, competitor analysis and link work, Semrush is the right kind of tool and we are not.

Daily rank tracking against competitors

Position Tracking checks your chosen keywords every day by device and location, on Google, Bing and AI search surfaces, with up to 20 competitors alongside. GSC Wizard reports Search Console's average position, which averages every impression and has no competitor in it. If a client asks where they rank for twelve specific keywords in Manchester, Semrush answers that and we do not.

A real site audit

Semrush's Site Audit crawls up to 100,000 pages a month on its entry plans and runs more than 140 technical and on-page checks. GSC Wizard has a full on-page check of your top pages and a link crawl, each capped at 1,000 pages. They are useful, and they are not a full site audit.

White-label client reports

With Pro reports, at about $20 per report per month, Semrush removes its branding, lets you use a custom domain and lets you embed live dashboards in your own site or client portal. GSC Wizard has no white-label option and no PDF export.

More than SEO

Advertising research, local listings, content briefs and article generation are separate Semrush toolkits, and AI visibility tracking comes with its plans above the entry one. A marketing team that wants those from one vendor, now part of Adobe, has a reason to choose Semrush that has nothing to do with Search Console.

Where GSC Wizard is the better choice

Search Console is where the two meet, and it is where Semrush is thinnest. These are the differences in our favour.

It keeps your Search Console data

Semrush's documentation says it will never store data from a connected Google Analytics or Google Search Console account. By that statement Semrush keeps no Search Console history of its own, so you see only what Google still holds, which is 16 months. GSC Wizard stores query, page, country and device data for stored properties and keeps it for up to ten years, starting from the 16 months Google holds when you connect.

All the rows, not a top fifty

Semrush's Organic Traffic Insights joins Search Console queries to your top landing pages, and its documentation limits that to 30, 40 or 50 pages depending on the plan. The Search Console widgets in dashboards and reports show clicks, impressions, CTR and position by query, page, country and device. GSC Wizard works on every row the Search Console API returns, for every page and query, which is what content decay, cannibalization and striking-distance analysis need.

Reports built on measured data

Semrush's organic traffic figures are modelled from rankings and search volumes. For competitors they are the only option. For your own site they estimate something Search Console measures directly. GSC Wizard's decay, CTR benchmark, forecast and anomaly reports run on your measured clicks and impressions. Semrush's own cannibalization report is limited to its Pro+ and Advanced plans, and its forecasting and ROI attribution feature is listed under Enterprise.

Bing Webmaster data and indexing

GSC Wizard reads Bing Webmaster Tools, and tracks the index status of up to 1,800 URLs per property each day through Google's URL Inspection API. Semrush tracks rankings on Bing but lists no Bing Webmaster Tools integration, and we found no URL Inspection tracker in its documentation.

Seats and price

Every Semrush plan includes one user, and extra users cost €43 to €96 a month each. GSC Wizard includes 1, 3 or 10 invited seats and charges €9 for more. Its entry plan is €17 a month against €134.21, though that only compares the part of the job both tools do.

What each one costs

Only the first row compares like with like. In the others, Semrush includes a keyword database, rank tracking and a crawler that GSC Wizard does not have at any price.

Situation GSC Wizard Semrush
Analysing your own Search Console data €17 (Starter) €134.21 (SEO plan); its free account also connects Search Console, with tight limits. No stored history
The same plus keyword research, rank tracking and competitors Not available €134.21 (SEO plan, 1 user)
15 sites, team of 3 €26 (Starter plus 1 seat; 5 of the 15 stored) €440 (Pro+ plus 2 users)
40 sites, team of 6 €57 (Pro plus 2 seats; 25 of the 40 stored) €1,006 (Advanced plus 5 users)

Using both

A lot of teams end up here. Semrush does the research before content is written and tracks a keyword list afterwards. A Search Console tool tells you what actually happened on your own site, with every query and several years of history. Both have MCP servers, so an assistant such as ChatGPT or Claude can be given market data from one and measured data from the other.

Which one should you pick?

Keyword research, competitors, PPC

Semrush. That is what it is for, and GSC Wizard has no third-party data.

Understanding your own organic traffic

GSC Wizard. Stored history, complete query data and reports that Semrush's Search Console integration does not attempt.

Agency reporting to clients

Semrush for ranked keyword lists and white-label PDFs. Add GSC Wizard when the client asks why traffic moved.

Frequently asked questions

Is GSC Wizard a Semrush alternative?

Not for most of what Semrush does. GSC Wizard has no keyword database, no competitor or backlink data, no rank tracker and no full site crawler. It is an alternative only for analysing your own site's Search Console, GA4 and Bing data, which it does in more depth and at a lower price.

Does Semrush store Google Search Console data?

No. Semrush's knowledge base says it will never store data from a connected Google Analytics or Google Search Console account. Since nothing is stored, the history available is whatever Google still holds, which is 16 months.

What does Semrush do with Search Console data?

It shows Search Console clicks, impressions, CTR and position in the project dashboard and in My Reports widgets, uses it in Organic Traffic Insights to match queries to your top 30 to 50 landing pages, and lets you import keywords and pages into Position Tracking and On Page SEO Checker.

How much does Semrush cost in 2026?

As shown to a visitor in the Netherlands, the SEO plan is €134.21 a month, Starter €190.84, Pro+ €286.74 and Advanced €526.49, or up to 17% less billed annually. Each plan includes one user. Semrush became part of Adobe in April 2026.

Why are Semrush traffic numbers different from Search Console?

Semrush estimates organic traffic from rankings and search volumes, so it can do so for any site. Search Console measures real clicks, for your site only. We explain the difference in more detail in Search Console versus Semrush.
